A Personalized Student Review is a fantastic opportunity for you to receive feedback on your playing from one of our qualified reviewers. By submitting a video of your performance, you will gain valuable insights into your strengths and areas for improvement. This personalized feedback is designed to help you grow and develop as a musician, offering you tailored advice and resources to support your progress.
What does the Student Review/Personalized Review include?
We assess your playing or singing based on a YouTube video link you submit for review. Our reviewers carefully watch your performance, noting your strengths and pinpointing areas where you can improve. We want to help you grow, so we provide helpful tips and advice on several key areas:
- Posture and Position: We help make sure you have the proper position and technique to avoid strain and play or sing your best.
- Hand and Finger Placement: Tips and tricks on how to place your hands and fingers for better technique, accuracy, and speed.
- Breath Control: For singers, we offer guidance on how to manage your breath to keep your voice strong and steady.
- Articulation and Dynamics: Learn how to connect with your "audience" by adding expression and emotion to your performance
- Timing and Rhythm: We’ll help you stay in sync and nail that timing. This helps improve your overall musical feel and makes things feel good and in the pocket!
How do I apply for a Student Review?
You can apply for your personalized student review in just a few easy steps!
Step 1: Click on your profile icon in the upper right-hand corner of the website
Step 2: Click Apply for Review
- Step 3: Fill out the details
- Step 4: Include your YouTube Link
- Step 5: Click "Submit" and you are all set!
Do I need to do anything special?
For all instruments, make sure to clearly show the following in your video:
- Your hands
- Your posture
- Your position
Drumeo: If possible, include a view of your feet as well!
Singeo: We want to hear your natural sound! Please avoid using EQ or effects on your vocals.

Who will see my review video?
Reviews will be sent directly to you by email as video links, ensuring your privacy and safety. This way, you can submit your videos without worrying about them being seen by the entire community. Additionally, this allows us to provide you with extra support, such as lesson links and personalized playlists.
If you’d like to share your review publicly, you can post it in your student progress or practice threads on the forums or the Members Only Facebook pages. This way, the community can join in and provide feedback and encouragement.
Do you provide things for me to practice?
Absolutely! Our reviewers provide suggestions and options to help you overcome challenges and improve your skills.
How often can I submit a review?
We recommend submitting for another review after you have completed the work and made some progress. Typically, this means submitting a new review every 6-8 weeks, unless your reviewer suggests otherwise. This timeframe allows you to practice and apply the feedback effectively, ensuring you receive meaningful and constructive advice to continue your growth as a musician.
Do I have the same reviewer each time?
When possible, we like to change things up ensuring you benefit from a variety of perspectives and insights. This can really enhance your learning experience as different reviewers can offer unique tips and techniques, helping you to become a more well-rounded and versatile musician. We believe this approach will give you a richer and more effective learning journey!
How long does it take to get a review?
The normal turn-around time for reviews is 5-10 business days, depending on how many reviews are in the queue. Sometimes it will be faster, but on rare occasions, it may take a bit longer.
What format does the review take?
Student reviews can be either video-based or written, depending on the reviewer's preference. This flexibility allows reviewers to provide the most effective and personalized feedback for your learning journey.
